Why Personal Training Costs What It Costs (And Why It’s Worth It)

There are a lot of reasons why personal training costs what it costs.

But the one I hear most often?

“I just like that I don’t have to think.”

You walk into the gym… and it’s all ready for you.

No wondering what to do.
No bouncing between machines.
No guessing.

You just show up and go.

And that alone is worth something.

We Prioritize What We Value

Here’s something I was thinking about the other night…

I almost bought tickets to see Jay-Z.

$700… for nosebleed seats.

Now don’t get me wrong—that would’ve been an awesome experience.

But it made me think…

How easy is it to spend money on entertainment, but hesitate when it comes to our health?

Maybe it’s concerts.
Maybe it’s shopping.
Maybe it’s $300/month going out to eat or drinking.

We all spend money.

The question is just:
What are you choosing to invest in?

Because your health isn’t just another expense.

It’s the foundation that everything else sits on.

Yes… It’s a Luxury

I’ll say it straight up:

Personal training is a luxury.

You don’t need it.

Just like you don’t need:

  • A financial advisor
  • A business coach
  • Or a chef

You can figure a lot of things out on your own.

But Let’s Be Honest…

Could you teach yourself how to deadlift?

Sure.

You could:

  • Watch videos
  • Film yourself
  • Compare your form
  • Make corrections
  • Repeat that process over and over

Maybe you figure it out in a few hours.

Maybe it takes you 30.

Now compare that to working with a coach.

If it takes me 5 sessions to get you moving well…

What makes you think you’re going to figure it out faster on your own?

And more importantly…

How long are you willing to stay stuck before you do?

You’re Paying for Speed

This is the part nobody talks about.

You’re not just paying for what to do.

You’re paying for:

  • Getting there faster
  • Avoiding mistakes
  • Skipping the trial-and-error phase

Because spinning your wheels for 6 months isn’t free.

It costs you time, energy, and motivation.

The Hidden Value

Here’s something most people don’t expect…

Personal training isn’t just physical.

There’s a mental side to it.

A lot of sessions turn into:

  • Conversations
  • Venting
  • Problem solving
  • Getting your head right

I joke about it, but it’s true…

Sometimes I’m wearing the hat of a trainer.
Sometimes I’m wearing the hat of a therapist.

(Not a licensed one… let’s be clear.)

But when you see someone consistently, week after week…

That relationship matters.

And that support carries over into everything else you’re doing.

So… Is It Worth It?

It depends on the person.

If you’re:

  • Motivated on your own
  • Consistent without help
  • And getting results

You might not need it.

But if you’ve been:

  • Starting and stopping
  • Guessing your way through workouts
  • Saying “I’ll try” more than “I will”

Then it might be exactly what you need.

Final Thought

Personal training isn’t expensive.

Staying stuck is.
