Spoiler Alert: Add the Lettuce

sandwich compressed

During the week, I prep my lunch the night before. It’s the same thing almost every day—a sandwich, usually ham and cheese on wheat. I keep a bottle of mayo in the gym fridge so the bread doesn’t get soggy.

Yesterday, being Saturday, I had my lunch at home. Since it was fresh, I added some lettuce to my sandwich.

It sounds stupid, but it’s amazing how much that tiny upgrade changed the flavor and texture.

I talk a lot about making things 1% better.

But writing this made me stop and ask myself—how often do I actually apply that mindset to my own life?

If lettuce makes the sandwich better… why not just bring it with me?

I could throw the whole bag in my gym fridge, or take 30 seconds and pack some in a ziplock.

That’s it.

No overhaul. No big system.

Just a small adjustment that makes something I already do… better.

Most people don’t struggle because they don’t know what to do. They struggle because they think everything has to be a big, dramatic change.

In reality, progress usually looks like slightly improving what’s already part of your routine.

None of these things are hard. They’re just… slightly inconvenient.

But those small upgrades, done consistently, are what actually move the needle.

Sometimes all it takes is giving something a moment of thought.

If you’re willing to look for an easy solution, you’ll usually find one.

Not a perfect solution.
Not a complete transformation.

Just a better version of what you’re already doing.

And over time, that’s what adds up.

If you feel like you’ve tried everything—or you’re stuck overthinking where to start—this is exactly the kind of thing we work through in our nutrition coaching.

Simple. Practical. Real-life solutions that actually fit your day.

Because more often than not…

You don’t need a new plan.

You just need to add the lettuce
